Designing Effective Course Activities to Mitigate Misconduct

In educational settings, rather than striving for ‘cheat-proof’ assessments, it is more beneficial to design evaluations that encourage continuous learning and skill development throughout a student’s course and program. Academic misconduct can manifest in various forms of coursework. Still, effectively designing activities that engage students in diverse methods of demonstrating their knowledge can mitigate cheating and enhance their study habits and overall learning. A multifaceted approach to assessment helps instill confidence in students, making them less inclined to resort to dishonest practices.
