About OER Development in Pressbooks
Support Available for OER Development

In conjunction with the ISU Digital Press, the University’s Library’s OER Lead provides the following support related to OER creation. These services are provided at no cost.
Content Development
- Access to a template for formatting your content in Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs.[1]
- Facilitation for collaborative projects (internal and external partners)
- Oversight of your content’s peer review process (required for textbooks, optional for labs)
- Production management for the import of your finished manuscript into Pressbooks
Research and Copyright (Library Partners)
- Environmental scans of existing teaching resources (request an OER consultation)
- Training on copyright compliance and accessibility basics
- Research assistance (speak with your subject librarian to discuss support available)
Instructional Design Support
- Textbook development training
- Support importing your textbook into Canvas via our LTI
- Support for OER implementation in the classroom (i.e student projects)
Graphic Design and Multimedia Creation
- Searching for open images to be used in educational content
- Video creation tools to support OER development through Studio 2B
- Custom formatting and cover design for publications
Promotion and Training
- DOI registration, metadata management, and search engine optimization
- Marketing and indexing of your new book in online databases to increase its impact
- Tracking and reporting download statistics and reuse information
