This chapter is presented to introduce the reader to examples of infectious diseases fish. There are different types of infectious disease in fish. The “typical” infectious disease can be caused by some life form that is microbial in size. The life forms causing disease are labeled pathogens. There are numerous categories of pathogens. The chapter will give a short list of pathogens for each category to give the reader an appreciation of its traits. One large and diverse category of pathogenic organisms are parasites. While parasites are infectious and pathogens, they will be discussed in a separate chapter.
