Search Activity

In this module, you learned about public domain and Creative Commons, as well as resources to find them on the internet. For this activity, take some time to search for an image in either category. Find a meaningful and impactful image and download it to your computer. For this assignment, your task is to:

  1. Share the image with your class or group.
  2. Provide a short description of how the image is meaningful to you, and
  3. Provide a citation for the image using APA style citations
Example Post

This famous picture taken during the dust bowl by Dorothea Lange is a powerful image that represents the hardship of American families during the 1930’s. I would use this picture as an engaging hook for my high school class before a unit on the dust bowl. I would show the image on the screen and ask the students to write a reflection on the feelings evoked from the image and what it might be about. Interestingly, the caption of the original image is “Destitute peapickers in California” even though it is known as “Migrant Mother”. This image is in the public domain because it was taken by a government employee.

Lange, D. (1936). Destitute peapickers in California [Photograph]. Retrieved from https://www.loc.gov/rr/print/list/128_migm.html.
