Like many open books, this project contains lightly adapted remixes of existing open works.
Many chapters are adapted from Getting Started with Open Educational Resources: A guide for University of Iowa OpenHawks recipients. That resource was, in turn, adapted from and built upon the foundation of the following materials:
- The Creative Commons’ CC Certificate Resources, Chapter 5: Creative Commons For Educators (OER, Open Textbooks, and Open Courses; Finding and Evaluating OER, Adapting and Remixing OER; The Basics; Formulas; and Checklist for Accessibility),
- the Accessibility Toolkit – 2nd Edition by BCcampus (Universal Design, Organizing Text, Uisng Images, Links, Tables, Making Multimedia Accessible, and Formulas),
- The OER Starter Kit by Abbey K. Elder (Inclusive OER and Open Pedagogy),
- “Showing Students Their Stories Matter” by Justine Hope Blau (Inclusive OER and Open Pedagogy) and
- Pressbooks User Guide by Book Oven Inc. (Pressbooks.com) (Using Pressbooks, Adding Media and Interactive Content, and Importing and Exporting Content for Pressbooks).
Additional materials were taken or adapted from:
- The Rebus Guide to Publishing Open Textbooks (So Far) by Apurva Ashok and Zoe Wake Hyde
I would invite you to check out the original materials linked here for additional helpful content.
