What is Academic Misconduct?

Defining academic misconduct

Academic misconduct is any action or attempted action that may result in creating an unfair academic advantage for oneself or an unfair academic advantage or disadvantage for any other member of the academic community. Academic misconduct, or cheating, can manifest in a variety of ways in both in-person and virtual courses. This tutorial will take you through examples of types of misconduct and discuss ways in which you can avoid finding yourself in these situations. As we explore the different kinds of academic misconduct, you are encouraged to reflect back on the definition of academic integrity and how cheating does not align with this definition.
