Summers with Babi VI.

the summer bazaar was on...
she took us upstairs
to a warm hall filled with tables
covered with knick-knacks
and windows looking
out over the busy street
with its many signs of savings
(and loans)

not much here for me
(nor for my little sister for that matter)
but Babi greeted many friends
as we shuffled around the hall

and when we left
i came down the stairs
holding a small glass jar
holding a summer surprise
i would never forget
