Shattered

The quivering winds
that burst in after midnight
were not enough to quell
the changes from within,
ones that had built upon themselves
for far too long confined
within a vessel flawed
just enough to crack and burst,
shattering the vitreous silence,
leaving dangerous shards in their wake.
