Rare Book Highlights

The blog posts in this section, “Rare Book Highlights,” are posts in a series developed by Amy Bishop, Rare Books and Manuscripts Archivist at Iowa State University Library Special Collections and University Archives.  Amy wanted to draw attention to the rare books because the strengths of our rare books collection is not as well-known as our University Archives. She also used the series as an opportunity to dive deeper into the collection she oversees. The first first Rare Books Highlights post published on our blog, on June 28, 2016, was a short blog post on Nehemiah Grew’s The Anatomy of Plants (1682).

I selected these posts because content ranges from examining books as objects and historical context of time they were written and also discusses their relevance in today’s times.
