1.1 Basics of Rhythm: Sight Singing exercises

Step 1) Clap the quarter note or dotted-quarter note pulse (keep it steady!) and “ta” the rhythms below on proper syllables, keeping in mind which syllables to use for simple verses compound meters. Repeat each measure until you can ta the rhythm smoothly and steadily without changing the pulse. 

Step 2) Reverse it: ta the steady quarter note or dotted-quarter note pulse and clap the rhythms below.
