10.2 Part Writing, Root Position Triads and Suspensions: Aural Training exercises

Step 1) Listen to each harmonic progression, consisting of four chords in root-position. 


 

Step 2) Sing along with the bass line, then notate it on the staff

Step 3) Sing up and down each chord as it goes along, finding the notes of each triad along the way. Note: the chord progression in played in open SATB voicing, but you should sing up and down each chord in closed position above each bass note (i.e. find the bass note and sing up to the third of the chord, then up again to fifth, and back down again). 

Label the roman numeral of all four chords in each progression:
