Exercise 1

Complete the two phrases so as the anticipated conclusion of your first a phrase in the fourth bar elides with the beginning of your second four-bar a’ phrase.

Complete the second of the two given phrases, first with a pre-cadential extension, then with a post-cadential extension. First, think about where one would expect the b phrase to conclude, given the length of the preceding a phrase. Then, deny this expectation by adding the prescribed extension.
