3.3 Minor Scales: Aural Training exercises

Listen to each of the following minor key exercises

Step 1) Identify the tonic and whether the first note is scale degree 1, 3 or 5.

Step 2) Provide yourself a tonic pitch, sing straight up and down the scale (i.e. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1-7-6-5-4-3-2-1), then find the starting pitch of the exercise if it is not scale degree 1.

Step 3) Sing the each exercise back on numbers.

Step 4) Notate each exercise below using straight eighth notes (no time signature), using B as the tonic pitch (be sure to raise scale-degrees 6 and/or 7 as needed!).
